Melbourne Artbike Grand Prix is a fun community event, a conscious alternative to the Melbourne Cup. Participants race their own customised, home built, and wildly decorated bikes in a knockout competition, held in good fun, and with proceeds going to Bicycles For Humanity.
The branding and event design called for a visual representation of an abstract and open-eded concept, with an overall friendly and fun look. Anchoring on the most universal part of the concept - the bike, and zoning in on the part most instantly recognisable, the wheel, then mixing it up with some fun elements to represent art and creativity, but keeping an element of abstract and mystery to the overall design - after all, an art bike is a free-for-all creative outlet and I didn’t want the design to in any way influence or dictate any pre-prescribed notions (especially for the inaugural event). The secondary elements are an imagining of what kind of tyre tracks these crazy Artbikes would leave in the dust of the race track, and the resulting abstract shapes have been adopted across all collateral throughout the event.

Burning Seed is Australia’s leading regional Burning Man event, and the 2014 theme was Imagine:Nation. The poster and collateral were illustrated to reflect the expansion of the mind and and sense of community encouraged by the event.
I have been involved with Burning Seed design team from 2014 - 2017, initially designing the 2014 theme and collateral, and moving into the Design Lead role, organising and designing all annual publications and guides, and many logos and collateral for other teams in the org.

BRANDING / IDENTITY / LOGO
Reclamation Artists Warehouse provides large-scale creative spaces where collaboration and community are key to empowering a new generation of artists.
The industrial workshop feel was an important part of Reclamation's identity, with exposed steel, rusty beams and looming tin roof being ever present textures within the warehouse as a constant reminder of grit and hard work. The logo is purposefully rough, depicting disintegrating rust within a square which is representative of space.
... With a tinge of Grit.

The Strange are a six piece garage/rock/blue band hailing from Melbourne. They are highly influenced by past masters of rock from the 60's and 70's and this is reflected in the design of their logo and album cover.

Volta - to twist, turn, to orbit, a point of dramatic change, a shift in direction or time. Electricity, the volt, turmoil.
Volta was the theme for the annual RMIT Creative Writing Anthology 2013, a collection of short stories and poetry. Many of the creative writing pieces in the 2013 anthology were of a very personal and intense nature, and this combined with the stormy and eccentric theme for the year lead me to employ a style of imagery and a custom typeface for the cover that portrayed that energy and expression, whilst the layout for the interior pages were kept simple and spacious, allowing the words to speak for themselves.
PUBLISHING / ILLUSTRATION / LAYOUT
Hardie Grant sought to produce a new line of notebooks consisting of a large and small journal, a set of 4 notebooks, and a set of postcards with strict colour limitations.
I looked to the idea of small discoveries and observations; of scientific field notes and botanical research, and developed a series of insect illustration in bold colours that become objects of beauty.

Shelter & Bronze is a modern and contemporary furniture company that aims to provide high-end furniture to the aesthetically discerning, without the overly high price tags.
The logo was developed by thinking about the letters 'S' and 'B' as pieces of furniture - forms, shapes and modules put together to create a modern image. I also wanted to use a bright, attention seeking colour to be repeated throughout the branding for this contemporary company.
Denby Lane is a theoretical initiative to utilise unused laneway space in an inner Melbourne location. Due to its proximity to traveller's hostels, and the fact that laneways are a major part of Melbourne culture, the idea is to fill the space by creating an area for travellers to meet and become acquainted with Melbourne culture. Design based on the concept includes a set of postcards to promote the space as well as advertising for a travellers swap & meet.
